The IIHF Disciplinary Panel is conducting an official review of a knee on knee hit by Czech defenceman #12 Patrik Marcel on Slovak forward #18 David Minarik.

The hit occurred during Tuesday’s final preliminary round game between the two teams. At just under eight minutes into the second period with the Czech Republic leading the game 4-0, Marcel made contact with the knee of Minarik, who left the ice and did not return. Marcel was given a five-minute major and game misconduct on the play.

The Panel is currently reviewing the play and will have a hearing with the player tomorrow, with a decision to be announced after.
